Dear fellows, members and associated members,

In 2009, I had a precious opportunity to take up the post of Honorary Secretary of the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association. I learnt much from the Presidents, office bearers and council members in the past eight years. This year, it is my great honour to be the President Elect of the HKOA and having privilege to serve you all in the coming six more years. I thank the HKOA council and your support all along.

The 37th Annual Congress of the HKOA will be held on 4-5 November 2017. It is exciting to me to be the co-chairman of the Annual Congress. Collaborating with another co-chairman Dr Y B Wong and OC members, I have full confident to accomplish this challenging commitment.

The main theme this year is ‘Minimally Invasive Orthopaedic Surgery’. The scientific sessions focus mainly on Foot & Ankle, Sports Medicine, Spine and Trauma. The growth of minimally invasive orthopaedics surgery has been dramatic worldwide. Recent advances of MIS attain the same or superior results with reduced morbidly, shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery. I hope our Annual Congress will be fruitful and stimulating to every participant. Your valuable opinion is important to our Organising Committee.
